Could someone please explain to me the correct method for recording a Ugen Graph coming from a Pbind or Ptpar? Thanks in advance for your help. It's actually a hell of a job to write methods for all kinds of midi also considering that midifiles from different creators use different standards like running status. I wrote to James some time ago because I thought it would be quite easy for him to do since the methods for reading and writing midi from the port is already there and might be used for reading from a file instead. Maybe the running status stuff makes it difficult, cause that can't be used when reading/writing to a port. (I think) As I told you before it seemed to big a task for me at the moment so I use the IAC in OMS and the built-in midimethods and just save the file in the sequencer instead communicating between the apps. ( Synth.record({ Pbind(\dur, 0.5).asSpawn(Event.protoEvent, 2) }, nil, "test", 'AIFF', '16 big endian signed') ) - ------------------------------------------------------------------------- This email server is running an evaluation copy of the MailShield anti- spam software. So far, i haven't noticed glitching in SC 2.2.9 when using the ASIO drivers. When I use the Roland in the Sound Manager, it can glitch. It will crash the machine pretty bad when I really start pushing the processor to the limit (e.g., crank up the Oscilator Benchmark to n=255), but otherwise it has been stable. Though i haven't used the thing in anger yet. > I am using a roland um-2 midi usb interface, > and if the powerbook goes to sleep, I have to quit SC and pull the usb > connector out to wake up the roland again. Does anything like that > happen with the ua-30 ? It is annoying when playing live not to be able > to freely nap while setting up, wandering around etc. I haven't had a problem like that. If I have the Roland selected in the Sound Manager and put my B&W G3 to sleep, when it wakes back up, the Roland is no longer the output for the Sound Manager. With the ASIO drivers, however, even after sleeping the machine, SC recognizes it fine. > How does it sound ? probably just ok I would think. The only yardstick i have to compare it to is the default Apple sound hardware. The Roland does sound better than that. :) I've been avoiding getting a PCI audio card because I plan to get a Powerbook soon and it would be nice to have an audio interface that I could use on both my desktop and my laptop. I'm hoping the Yamaha Firewire audio module will come out soon, but in the meantime I am using the Roland as a stopgap. If it would help you get an idea of the sound, I could run some SC patches through it and write the output to an aiff and send that to you. - - sekhar - -- C.
